Relationship between cold season air temperature in the Baltic sea region and the Arctic sea ice extent

چکیده
The variability of the atmospheric circulation described by AO and NAO indices has a significant impact on fluctuations climate parameters in Baltic Sea region. Many research show, that decline Arctic ice extent increases likelihood negative phases Oscillation (AO) North Atlantic (NAO) winter, future could lead to more frequent relatively cold weather events during winter months This is important for understanding possible teleconnections between (AO NAO). In addition, this helps better understand dynamics region air temperature, as well temperature A statistically decrease increase have been determined. obtained results show expansion January-February with delay one month determines values (correlation coefficients vary from 0.32 0.55). means if decreases months, are likely become well. However, correlations not very strong, insufficient confirm hypothesis impacts requires further research. strong correlation AO/NAO established. December-March greatly influenced phases. Arctic Sea Ice Extent Prediction
Climate change is a pressing and present issue which has come to be at the forefront in the last few decades. As such, understanding climate change is of utmost importance. In addition to environmental impact, these changes will have social and economic ramifications as these changes will affect the way in which we utilize land and sea resources in the future. The minimum annual arctic sea ice ...

The observed dramatic decrease in September sea ice extent (SIE) has been widely discussed in the scientific literature. Though there is qualitative agreement between observations and ensemble members of the Third Coupled Model Intercomparison Project (CMIP3), it is concerning that the observed trend (1979–2010) is not captured by any ensemble member. The potential sources of this discrepancy i...
متن کاملSea ice in the Baltic Sea e A review
Although the seasonal ice cover of the Baltic Sea has many similarities to its oceanic counterpart in Polar Seas and Oceans, there are many unique characteristics that mainly result from the brackish waters from which the ice is formed, resulting in low bulk salinities and porosities. In addition, due to the milder climate than Polar regions, the annual maximum ice extent is highly variable, an...
متن کاملClues to variability in Arctic minimum sea ice extent
[1] Perennial sea ice is a primary indicator of Arctic climate change. Since 1980 it has decreased in extent by about 15%. Analysis of new satellite-derived fields of winds, radiative forcing, and advected heat reveals distinct regional differences in the relative roles of these parameters in explaining variability in the northernmost ice edge position. In all six peripheral seas studied, downw...
